1930s thriller The Scotland Yard Mystery comes to DVD in August
12 August 2015
A classic thriller with a brilliantly macabre twist, the 1934 The Scotland Yard Mystery is the story of the battle between a resourceful detective and a skilful and sinister swindler.
Sexton Blake star George Curzon plays a doctor who uses his unique medical knowledge to mastermind a lucrative life insurance scam. In a rare film role, legendary thespian Gerald du Maurier (Escape!, The Rise Of Catherine The Great) stars as the Metropolitan Police Commissioner who sets out to uncover the secret of five empty coffins and catch the villainous swine responsible for such depravities.
Directed with characteristic verve by Thomas Bentley (David Copperfield, Murder At The Baskervilles), The Scotland Yard Mystery is featured here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio.
The Scotland Yard Mystery comes to UK DVD on 31st August 2015 from Network as part of 'The British Film' collection at the RRP of £9.99.
The only extra feature is an Image Gallery, but here's a clip from the film:
