Britfilms 24 Hours to Kill & Small Town Story on DVD in August
30 July 2015
Network have announced a further two titles as part of 'The British Film' collection for release in August, 24 Hours to Kill, starring Mickey Rooney, Lex Barker, Walter Slezak and Michael Medwin, and Small Town Story, starring Donald Houston and Susan Shaw.
24 Hours to Kill (1965)
When a jet airliner with engine trouble lands in Beirut for a 24-hour stopover, purser 'Jonesey' fears his life is in danger from a gold-smuggling gang whom he double-crossed on a previous trip. So begins a day of chilling suspense, as he and other crew members find themselves embroiled in a desperate race for their lives.
Tarzan star Lex Barker and Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney (Breakfast At Tiffany’s) head a glittering international cast in this crime thriller from British B-movie mogul Harry Alan Towers (The Call of the Wild), with Barker starring as the pilot of a stricken American airliner and Rooney as the purser whose eye for easy money sees him tangling with a ruthless gang of smugglers.
Presented here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements in its original aspect ratio, 24 Hours To Kill will released on UK DVD on 3rd August 2015 at the RRP of £9.99, courtesy of Network’s ‘The British Film’ collection.

Small Town Story (1953)
Canadian ex-serviceman Bob Regan returns to Oldchester, the English town where he was posted during the war. Meeting up with his friend Mike, now manager of the local football club, he discovers that Oldchester are desperate for promotion – standing to inherit £25,000 from recently deceased supporter Wallace Hammond if they make the Third Division. Bob, a keen and gifted footballer, agrees to play for Mike’s team, but Hammond’s nephew has every reason to engineer their defeat.
Thought lost for decades, this British thriller stars Donald Houston (Clash of the Titans), Alan Wheatley (Brighton Rock) and Susan Shaw (The Huggetts trilogy) in a gripping story of love and deception in the world of British association football.
Featured here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements, Small Town Story includes appearances from football and cricket legend Denis Compton along with players from Millwall, Arsenal and Hayes football clubs, and boasts the only screen acting credit of future World of Sport commentator Kent Walton. Though there is noticeable film damage in the first reel, this is the only copy known to exist.
Small Town Story will be released on UK DVD on 3rd August 2015 at the RRP of £9.99, courtesy of Network’s ‘The British Film’ collection.
