Mine Own Executioner and My Brother Jonathan on DVD/Blu-ray in March

27 February 2015

Network have announced another two titles as part of 'The British Film' collection, both on DVD and one on Blu-ray as well: Mine Own Executioner (Blu-ray and DVD), a powerful drama starring Burgess Meredith and Kieron Moore, and My Brother Jonathan (DVD only), a love story with real life husband and wife duo Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray.

Mine Own Executioner (1947)

Starring double Oscar-nominee Burgess Meredith (Rocky, Clash Of The Titans) and accomplished Irish actor Kieron Moore (Arabesque, The Day Of The Triffids), this powerful psychological drama shows the almost super-human demands of a profession that ranks amongst the most challenging.

Meredith stars as Felix Milne, a lay psychiatrist in post-War London who is enlisted to treat Adam Lucian, a fighter pilot deeply traumatised by his experiences in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp. Beleaguered by emotional problems of his own, Milne embodies the mixture of dedication, self-distrust and self-criticism that characterises a man with a genuine vocation for the psychiatrist’s work; but is he qualified to treat a patient as disturbed and potentially destructive as Adam?

Mine Own Executioner is available to own on UK Blu-ray at the RRP of £14.99, and UK DVD at the RRP of £9.99, from 9th March 2015 as part of Network’s ‘The British Film’ collection.

The film is presented in a brand-new High Definition transfer from the original film elements.

Edie falls in love with Jonathan’s brother, Harold, who is killed in the War, and Jonathan marries her as planned. It is only afterwards that he realises he now loves another.

THIS powerful drama recounts a love story amid the malice, professional jealousy and deprivation of a small industrial town stars husband and wife Michael Denison (Shadowlands, The Importance Of Being Earnest) and Dulcie Gray (Mine Own Executioner, Howards’ Way) in another major box office success. The supporting class includes a number of familiar faces, including Finlay Currie (Great Expectations, Billy Liar), James Robertson Justice (Doctor in the House, The Guns of Navarone) and Wilfrid Hyde-White (My Fair Lady, The Browning Version).

My Brother Jonathan will be released on UK DVD on 9th March 2015 at the RRP of £9.99, courtesy of Network’s ‘The British Film’ collection.
