Caprica, Part 1 on DVD in January

23 December 2010

There's a strong possibility that unless you're a fan of the Battlestar Gallactica retooling then you'll not have heard of Caprica. Essentially a prequel series set 50 years before the events in that show, it tells the story of how the murderous Cylons came into being and two rival dynasties, the Adamas and the Graystones, as future events are set into motion.

Following the death of his daughter, Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz, Pulp Fiction, Mask) diverts his grief into researching artificial and biological intelligence and comes into conflict with the charismatic Joseph Adama (Esai Morales, 24, Jericho), beginning a battle between ethics, science and business as the war for the survival of the human race looms on the horizon.

Produced by the creative minds behind Battlestar Galatica, including Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, Caprica has attracted a fair amount of critical praise and has already built its own genre fanbase – there's even an episode of our favourite geek comedy The Big Bang Theory in which Leonard becomes the object of his friends' suspicion when he reveals that he went out instead of watching the latest episode.

Caprica, part 1 will be released in the UK as a 4-disc DVD set on 3rd January 2010 by Universal Playback at the RRP of £24.99. Extra features will include:

  • Deleted Scenes;
  • Video Blogs;
  • Audio Commentaries;
  • Creating A World, The Look of Caprica;
  • Sneak Peak of Caprica: Part 2.
