Pelican Blood on DVD in March

8 December 2010

Following the break-up with his girlfriend, Stevie, a disastrously unsuccessful suicide attempt and the death of his mother, Nikko has decided to put his obsessive-compulsive disorder tendencies to good use by working as a professional house cleaner and is devoting all his leisure time to his hobby: bird spotting with his best friends, Cameron and Bish. Nikko's target is to spot 500 different birds, at which point he plans to end it all in every sense of the phrase, and he's already well into the 490s.

But just as Nikko's life is beginning to settle into something resembling normality, Stevie arrives back on the scene and reignites their highly volatile, sexually charged relationship, much to the dismay of those close to Nikko. An animal rights activist and environmental campaigner with serious emotional and psychological issues of her own, Stevie may be the one thing Nikko wants but she's also the last thing he needs.

Adapted by Cris Cole (Mad Dogs; The Good Times Are Killing Me) from the acclaimed novel by Cris Freddi and directed by Karl Golden (The Honeymooners; Belonging To Laura), the provocative new Brit-flick, Pelican Blood, stars Harry Treadaway (Fish Tank; Control, Brothers of the Head), Emma Booth (The Boys Are Back), Arthur Darvill (Robin Hood) and Christopher Fulford (Whitechapel) in a compelling tale of an impetuous young couple who embark on a capricious affair after meeting on a suicide website chat room.

Pelican Blood (cert. 15) will be released on DVD by Icon Home Entertainment on 7th March 2011 at the RRP of £12.99. No extra features have been listed.
