Family Guy – It's a Trap! on DVD and Blu-ray in December

11 November 2010

Star Wars parodies. Robot Chicken is doing them, Family Guy is doing them, and despite some personnel crossover between the two there almost seems to have been a race between them to see to can complete their trilogy first. Robot Chicken was the quickest out of the gate, but Family Guy has delivered their third installment ahead of their friendly rivals.

In this apparently spectacular and offensively uproarious final chapter, Luke Skywalker (Chris) and Princess Leia (Lois) must travel to Tatooine to free Han Solo (Peter) by infiltrating the wretched stronghold of
Jabba the Hutt (Joe), the galaxy's most loathsome and dreadful gangster. Once reunited, the Rebels team up with a tribe of Ewoks to combat the Imperial forces on the forest moon of Endor. Meanwhile the Emperor (Carter Pewterschmidt) and Darth Vader (Stewie) conspire to turn Luke to the dark side, and young Skywalker is determined to rekindle the spirit of the Jedi within his father. The Galactic Civil War has never been more outrageous, as the Rebel forces gather to attack the seemingly defenseless and incomplete second Death Star in the battle that will determine the fate of the galaxy.

Family Guy – It's a Trap! will be released on UK DVD and Blu-ray just in time for Christmas. Actually, no it won't. It a suprising missed opportunity, both will be released on 27th December by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment at the RRP of £15.99 for the DVD and £19.99 for the Blu-ray Triple Play, which features the film on Blu-ray and DVD plus a digital copy for those of you who wouldn't dream of ripping a DVD to play the film on your iPod Touch. The following extras will be included on both versions:

  • Digital copy of the film;
  • Audio commentary featuring Seth MacFarlane, David A. Goodman, Cherry Chevapravatdumrong, Kara Vallow and Peter Shin;
  • Star Wars Trivial Pursuit: The Ultimate Championship;
  • Drawing with Peter Shin;
  • Sock Puppet Outtakes;
  • Animatic;
  • Making the Scene;

Also missing the Christmas present window by a couple of days will be a box set, also from Fox, containing all three Family Guy Star Wars parodies, which will be titled Laugh It Up Fuzzball: The Family Guy Trilogy, which will be priced at £29.99 for the DVDs and £39.99 for the triple-play Blu-ray. All of the extras from the stand-alone releases will be included.
