Having surprised everyone by beating Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon and Jacques Audiard's Un prophète to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, a staggering thirteen gongs at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in its native Argentina (it was also nominated for a further four awards) and a good many others at international film festivals, Juan José Campanella's mesmerising mystery thriller The Secrets in Their Eyes (El secreto de sus ojos) is coming to UK DVD in January from Metrodome.
For 25 years, a murder case has remained indelibly etched on lawyer Benjamín Espósito's mind. Now retired, he decides to return to the story and in doing so take another look at a past full of love, death and friendship. But those memories, once unlocked and replayed a thousand times over, will change his view of the past and rewrite his future.
Described by Roger Ebert as "a real movie, the kind they literally don't make very much anymore," and Amber Wilson at Eye for Film as having "a strong story, encompassing romance, thriller aspects, comedy and even political intrigue, zipping back and forward in time but always carrying you with it to a conclusion that is thoroughly satisfying on all counts," The Secret in Their Eyes will be released on UK DVD by Metrodome on 10th January 2010 at the RRP of £19.99, with the following extra features:
- Cast & Crew Interviews;
- Behind The Scenes featurette;
- Theatrical Trailer;
- UK Trailer.
