The Tortured on DVD and Blu-ray in October

27 September 2010

Devastated by the kidnap and murder of their young son, Elise (Christensen) and her husband Craig (Metcalfe) are further distressed when the man accused of the crime is set free prematurely. Deciding the criminal justice system has failed them by not adequately punishing the monster responsible for all their pain, they seize on a chance to wreak the ultimate revenge by kidnapping the killer and holding him hostage in the basement of a remote country house, where they intend to inflict the same pain and torture upon him as the believe he inflicted upon their son.

Elise and Craig are firm in their belief that this ‘eye for an eye' vengeance is not only justified, but will also heal their own mental wounds. But how far they are prepared to go before ‘justice is served' remains to be seen.

Directed by Robert Lieberman (The Stranger; Earthsea; Fire In The Sky) and starring Erika Christensen (Parenthood; Swimfan; Traffic), Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives; John Tucker Must Die) and horror genre favourite Bill Moseley (the remake of Halloween; Grindhouse; The Devil's Rejects), The Tortured is a vigilante horror movie from Oren Koules and Mark Burg, producers of the hugely successful Saw series. Opinion seems to be divided on its merits, but genre specialist Alan Jones has given his stamp of approval. We shall see. Expect explicit violence.

The Tortured has been selected to play at the Frightfest horror film festival and you can catch the film on the big screen at the Prince Charles Cinema on the 15th October at 8.45pm.

The Tortured will be released on UK DVD and Blu-ray by E1 Enteryainment on 18th October 2010 at the RRP of £12.99 (DVD) and £19.99 (Blu-ray). Special features include:

  • Interviews with cast and crew;
  • Behind-the-scenes featurette.
