Lipstick on Your Collar on DVD in October

11 August 2010

The war is coming to an end and for most it's time for teenage kicks and rock 'n' roll music but not for Private Hopper (a young Ewan McGregor in his first starring role). It's his last few months of national service and he has been assigned to the War Office where he encounters Corporals, Colonals and Majors who make his life miserable, a cinema organist (Roy Hudd) with a dark secret, a naive, new to the city solider, Private Francis Francis (Giles Thomas) and a beautiful temptress Sylvia (Louise Germaine). Tasked with translating and making tea, his boredom leads Hopper into a fantasy musical dream world where anything is possible.

Written by Dennis Potter, Lipstick On Your Collar is part musical, part romantic comedy, part male fantasy and is considered by some to be the third in a trilogy of musical series that started with Pennies from Heaven and continued with The Singing Detective. Each series mixed musical memory and experience with day-to-day life which elevated them to new heights making them like nothing else ever seen on TV.

Following on from the recent DVD releases of Potter's Karaoke and Cold Lazarus, Lipstick on Your Collar will be released as two-disc set on 4th October 2010 by Acorn Media at the RRP of £19.99.
