A virtual difinition of cult movie success, Richard Kelly's extraordinary debut feature Donnie Darko has seen a succession of DVD releases both in its original and director's cut formats, and is now coming to 2-disc Blu-ray in what is optimistically being labelled an Ultimate Edition, whih will contain both the original version and the director's cut of the film and a solid collection of extras.
We're assuming that a plot summary isn't really necessary here, but on the offchance you haven't seen it... October 1988 and small town USA is about to witness the end of the world. It's home to Donnie Darko, a brilliant but troubled teenager, plagued by visions of which he alone holds the key to the meaning. With his class mate and soul mate Gretchen and a mysterious ex teacher, Grandma Death, he must unravel the strange occurrences infecting his school, his home and his life before a horrifying spectre known only as "Frank" can pull Donnie over the edge of his sanity.
Donnie Darko 2-disc Ultimate Edition wil be released on UK Blu-ray on 19th July 2010 by Metrodome at the RRP of £24.99. Extra features will include:
