Left Bank (Linkeroever) on DVD in May

31 March 2010

Aspiring athlete Marie (Eline Kuppens) meets the enigmatic Bobby apparently by chance and the two begin a sexually-charged romance, prompting her to move in with him at a run-down housing estate in the Left Bank district of Antwerp. However, it gradually becomes clear that all is far from well, as Marie discovers that the previous tenant mysteriously disappeared and that something sinister has been hidden in the cellar. Curious, but unable to trust anyone, she follows a thread of increasingly ominous clues into a nightmare of unimaginable horror.

Haunting, erotic and ultimately shocking, Pieter Van Hees' 2008 Left Bank (Linkeroever) is an occult mystery in the vein of The Wicker Man and Rosemary's Baby and brings a distinctly modern sensibility to a timeless theme. It also marks a return to a classic style of filmmaking which relies on masterly atmosphere-building and strong performances, described by Hal MacDermot on the Quiet Earth web site as a "beautifully shot debut feature" and "a story of horror that draws its power from slow build and unsettling suggestion."

Left Bank will be relased on UK DVD on 3rd May 2010 by Exposure Cinema at the RRP of £14.99. The following extras have been confirmed:

  • Production Diary;
  • Stills and Poster Gallery;
