Dying Breed on DVD in September

21 August 2009

With Hallowe'en only a couple of months off, horror movie DVD release announcements are on the rise, the latest being the Australian Dying Breed which is being marketed as a creepy blend of Deliverance, Wolf Creek and Ravenous.

Zoology student Nina, claims she can prove that the ancient species known as the Tasmanian Tiger is still alive and breeding. Driving her quest is one critical piece of proof - a paw print taken by her sister just before she met with a fatal accident eight years before. But what Nina doesn't know is how Tasmania became the world's most dangerous island in 19th century when the murderous convict Alexander Pearce (aka The Pieman) broke out of prison only to eat his fellow escapees. Pearce was hung for cannibalism in 1824, but not before he had spawned a bloodline who inherited his taste for human flesh...

Described by Australia's own Urban Cinefile as "a sophisticated horror film, layered with elements and peopled with leading characters who are more than stereotypes, thanks also to top performances," Dying Breed stars Leigh Whannell (Saw, Matrix Reloaded, Death Sentence) and Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek, Snakes On A Plane), and was very positively received by horror critics and fans upon its release. Building on the success of recent Australian horrors like Wolf Creek, Dying Breed mixes the unique blend of a bleak landscape and dripping terror like only the desolate, chilling outback of Australia can. Apparently.

Dying Breed will be released on UK DVD on 28th September 2009 by DNC Entertainment at the RRP of £12.99. No extras have been announced.
