Slacker Uprising documents political documentary filmmaker Michael Moore's vision of "the Birth of A New Political Generation". Traveling across key battleground states during the 2004 American Presidential elections, Moore campaigns to inform the 'slacke"” generation (those who normally don't come out to vote) about the importance of voting, and the reasons not to vote Republican. More than just raising awareness, it's a film about the right to protest, the right to object, the right to meet and the right to live in a democracy. Featuring appearances by REM, Viggo Mortensen, Steve Earle and Eddie Vedder.
Originally saddled with the slightly self-promotional title of Captain Mike Across America and available to watch on-line, Slacker Uprising is now to get its own DVD release in the UK courtesy of Optimum Home Entertainment on 17th August 2009 at the RRP of £9.99. There are no extra features on the disc. |
