The sort of film title that gives marketing departments nightmares and sets a challenge for any mainstream store looking to put the DVD on display, Fuck is an enlightening, amusing and provocative documentary that takes a look at all sides of the infamous F-word. It's taboo, obscene and controversial, yet somehow seems to permeate every single aspect of our lives and shatter linguistic and cultural barriers; outraging, arousing, offending and amusing listeners and users alike. It is a word so common and so loaded that everyone has an opinion on its use... or misuse.
Beginning with – and tearing down - the mythical beginnings of the word, a collection of linguists, comedians, social commentators, politicians, broadcasters, writers, actors, porn stars and musicians - from the prudish to the profane - analyse, interpret chart, and joke about its various uses, its popularisation and its ability to shock; frequently provoking laughter, searing social critique and thought provoking commentary.
Featuring excerpts from the infamous stand up shows of the great comedic pioneer Lenny Bruce and the legendary George Carlin alongside rarely heard audio from politicians such as President Nixon and Dick Cheney, FUCK examines what impact the word has on society through interviews with the likes of Billy Connolly, Hunter S. Thompson, Ice-T, Ron Jeremy, Alanis Morissette, Kevin Smith, Pat Boone, Drew Carey, Sam Donaldson, Bill Maher, Miss Manners, Tara Patrick and many more. The documentary also features film and television clips, music, and original animation by the Oscar nominated New York Times cartoonist Bill Plympton.
Fuck will be released on UK DVD on 25th May 2009 by ICA Films at the RRP of £12.99. No extras have been listed. |
