Terminator 2: Judgement Day Blu-ray in June

3 April 2009

One of the most celebrated sequels in modern cinema and the film that both popularised the computer aided process of morphing and introduced the term "Hasta la vista, baby" into the film geek language, James Cameron's 1991 follow-up to his 1984 breakthrough science fiction thriller has already been rather well treated on VHS tape, laserdisc and DVD, but now we can look forward to the high definition version when the film is released on UK Blu-ray disc in June by Optimum Home Entertainment.

In addition to the comprehensive commentaries from James Cameron and co-writer William Wisher from the 2008 release, this new 'Skynet Edition' features brand new special features making use of the latest in blu-ray technology, including interactive commentary intercut and in synch with the film, and a new slideshow mode showing drawings, concepts and exclusive photos from the production branching out from key scenes in the film.

The Skynet Edition Blu-ray edition of Terminator: Judgement Day will be released on 1st June 2009 by Optimum Home Entertainment at the RRP of £24.99 in a specially designed steel tin. Optimum will also be releasing a limited "Endoskull casing" edition, which will be available exclusively from Play.com at the pre-release price of £79.99.

The extras on both versions, which have still to be confirmed, will include:

  • Terminator 2 feature with 3 branched versions: Theatrical cut, Special Edition, Extended Special Edition;
  • Interactive mode PiP and non PiP SD commentary and interactive slideshows with audio commentary;
  • Quiz mode and Game mode;
  • Storyboard-Script mode;
  • 2 feature commentaries: Cast & Crew; James Cameron & William Wisher.
