Nursery teacher Jenny (Kelly Reilly) and her boyfriend Steve (Michael Fassbender), escape for a romantic weekend away. Steve, planning to propose, has found an idyllic setting: a remote lake enclosed by woodlands and seemingly deserted. The couple's peace is shattered when a gang of obnoxious kids encircles their campsite. Reveling in provoking the adults, the gang steals the couple's belongings and vandalizes their car. Determined to prevent the ruining their weekend, Steve confronts the kids, with terrifying consequences...
Writer-director James Watkins' directorial debut has been described as a a survival thriller for the hoodie generation and has been praised for its relentless intensity and preys most effectively on contemporary social fears and in the process explore aspects of the changing but still present British class system.
Eden lake has been announced for simultaneous release on DVD and Blu-ray by Optimum Home Entertainment on 5th January 2009 at the RRP of £16.99 for the DVD and a price to yet be confirmed for the Blu-ray. Extra features on both discs are:
