One Way is one of those movies that few appear to have seen and not many more are aware of. It is, we are assured by the press notes, "a chilling story of deception, betrayal and savage vengeance." Well just maybe it is. It's written and directed by Swiss newcomer Reto Salimbeni, What's it about?
Eddie Snyder (German actor Til Schweiger, who apprently does OK with the English speaking part and is also one of the film's producers) is New York City's advertising wunderkind. Successful and charming, he has it all. But in one impulsive moment Eddie's dream life will be torn from his grasp. When his fiancée's brother, Anthony, is accused of a grueling assault on a co-worker at the ad agency, the cracks in Eddie's life are wrenched wide open. In return for Anthony's silence over a less-than-salubrious private life, Eddie is forced into to give false evidence thereby protecting his future brother-in-law. Eddie's colleague and Anthony's alleged victim Angelina, is left devastated and betrayed. But the worst crime is yet to come, as one by one, the players in this terrible deception come face to face with the consequences of their lies and the reality of bitter, cold-hearted revenge...
One Way will be released on DVD in the UK on 3rd November 2008 at the RRP of £12.99. No details have been released on screen ratio or sound, and it looks like this is a movie-only disc.
