The List of Adrian Messenger in March

9 February 2008

When his suspicions are raised by a series of gruesome, yet seemingly unrelated deaths, Adrian asks his friend, retired MI5 agent Anthony Gethryn, to solve the unfolding mystery of a secret list bearing the names of the deceased. When Messenger is himself killed, it transpires that a sinister villain is using a variety disguises and schemes to bump off the eleven names on the list. Always seemingly one step ahead of the wily Gethryn, this criminal mastermind's plot is about to come to its disastrous and devilish conclusion as the fate of the name at the bottom of the list draws ever nearer.

Directed by the great John Huston and featuring and starring George C. Scott, Dana Winter and Clive Brook, the film's major selling point on its release were the cameo roles by Tony Curtis, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum, Frank Sinatra and Kirk Douglas, all of whom are well enough disguised to offer a direct challenge to the audience to spot them, with Douglas adding to the fun by playing a total of four roles.

The List of Adrian Messenger

A blackly comic mystery that boasts a fine score by the legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith, The List of Adrian Messenger is being released on UK DVD on 17th March 2008 by Metrodome at the RRP of £12.99, its first DVD release anywhere. As yet we are unsure of the transfer details and it looks to be an extras-free disc.
